Pregnancy brings about a lot of changes both emotionally and mentally. There is a human being residing inside of you – this new habitat brings about a lot of downsides apart from upsides (the preggo glow). The downsides completely change the things you find pleasure in. (Some of them are more soothing than cuddling and getting intimate with your soulmate). And we think most of you would agree with the list given below.
#1. Eating:
This is no brainer. Satisfying your cravings is something no woman could ever trade for anything in the world and that in no way compares to satisfying any sweet tooth or craving of yours before you got pregnant. It’s just pure BLISS.
Your bundle of joy can taste everything you eat and by around 15 weeks he will have a biased choice towards sweet/salty / spicy things. By the end of the first trimester, you will have an intense urge to eat. Don’t keep yourself from having each bite faster and faster. It’s okay to indulge yourself once in awhile like eating a whole pack of ice cream in one go.
#2. Sleeping:
Absolutely nothing can compare to deep sleep especially when your belly has grown to an extent where you can’t even see your feet anymore. Peeing every 5 minutes, backache, swollen feet, heartburn etc. – your only solace among all these things is refreshing sleep.
Every pregnant knows the importance of a good night’s sleep especially by the end when you are already exhausted / impatient of waiting for the baby. Don’t get up if you are enjoying your good sleep, just don’t do it – Enjoy it till it last.
#3. Foot Massage:
Those invisible feet are going to hurt a lot. And the swelling will be sudden accompanied by back ache and light leg pains too. Do book a professional reflexology massage – they are safe and reduce pain and swelling by increasing circulation in your legs.
Do avoid getting massages at home by an amateur masseuse because your feet consists of pressure points which are directly connected to the uterus. It’s better that you contact someone who has an experience in massaging pregnant women feet. Ask your doctor too, she will give you a good recommendation on the basis of risks you carry in your pregnancy.
#4. Warm Baths:
Warm Showers and baths are very relaxing and can really help you to get rid of any muscle soreness and tightening. Sodium bicarbonate found in the ingredients of many salts is actually beneficial for both mother and fetus since it balances the levels of magnesium in the pregnant woman’s body. Magnesium is linked with reducing the chances of preeclampsia and preterm labor.
Avoid hot baths or hot showers. Some mothers are worried about water harming their baby but as long as your water doesn’t break, amniotic sac wouldn’t let anything touch your baby(not even penis so even sex is safe).
- You can mix oatmeal and milk cream in the tub if you want to relax in the bath for a while. They will moisturize your skin and help with dryness.
- You can also add your favorite essential oils to the bath. Just be careful since oils might make the tub slippery.
- You can add Epsom salts to the bath. Epsom salts are actually beneficial in reducing swelling and aching of feet and hands.
- Adding any moisturizing oils to the bath is no reason not to moisturize after the bath. Do use a nourishing lotion after the bath.
I think the list does the justification of being more appealing to you than intimacy. Do you have anything which was an extra addition to your own list? Do mention it in the comments section below.
